Are you offering your employees the right incentives?

Are you offering your employees the right incentives? If you really want to attract and retain the right people in your business it’s one of the best things you can do. Especially in the tricky times we’re facing right now.

Because while you might not be in a position to offer your people pay rises to help with the rising cost of living, perks and benefits can really help to make life a little easier for them and make them a lot happier in their job.

And we all know that a happier workforce is a more productive workforce. Everyone wins.

But what perks and benefits should you be offering?

Believe it or not, the most desired benefit employees want post-pandemic doesn’t have to cost you a penny. It’s more flexible working.

Giving your people more control over where and when they do their job can be the key to offering a better work/life balance for many people. It can also help people reduce their outgoings by saving on travel to and from the office – not relying on childminders or after-school clubs, and even simply ditching that morning trip to the coffee shop.

Another perk that many employees would love is more annual leave. Shockingly, only 62% of the UK workforce takes all their annual leave each year. So it’s a surprising one, but offering your people more time off can mean that more gets done when people are at work.

You also give people more time to rest and recharge, which is great for mental health and wellbeing.

Other perks you could consider are performance-related bonuses, social events, health insurance, fitness schemes, or wellness initiatives.

It’s a good idea to speak to your people to find out what they really want. Every business is different. Run a survey, hold a meeting, or even create an anonymous suggestion box to help you understand what the best for your people would be. Not only that, but it’s another great way of helping everyone feel included and listened to in the business. Another great boost for loyalty and engagement.
