03 Dec Meet the Cluer HR team – Sharon
This week, Sharon gives us an insight into her role at Cluer HR.
What is your full name and title at Cluer HR?
Sharon Goodridge – HR Adviser
How long have you been working for Cluer HR and why did you want to join?
3 Months. I have previously worked as an in-house HR adviser and I wanted to broaden my experience into consultancy. It was important to me to work somewhere professional and with high standards, so when I found Cluer it felt like the perfect fit! Plus, they promised me biscuits in the interview!
What is a day in the life of your job role like?
Usually really busy, but I love it! We have a wide range of clients involved in all different types of business which brings a multitude of issues for us to assist with.
What is the most exciting aspect of your job?
Dealing with our clients! I am really enjoying learning about our clients and how HR can support their businesses and how to assist them achieve really good outcomes in sometimes trying situations. After years in HR, employees still really surprise me, you think you’ve heard it all and then a client will phone up with an issue and you think, ‘What on earth’? I love being able to guide people through difficult situations and get to a resolution. It’s nice to be the calm one on the other end of the phone!
What did you do before joining Cluer HR?
I worked as an in-house HR Manager for a family company, but I have experience in hospitality, NFP, and financial services. HR can take you to any business, I don’t think there are many jobs that can offer you that diversity.
Is there anything exciting you’re working on at the moment?
We are currently responding to the massive demand brought on by the the Covid pandemic, but I am looking forward to learning about the impact of Brexit on employment law and how that will shape the future. There is also extended protection and rights legislation coming up which I will be keen to learn about.
And finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I am a massive foodie! I love to cook, bake and eat out. I love music, so enjoy gigs, and love being outside. I am definitely a wellies girl, but I do love a pair of heels too! Before lockdown I was learning to shoot, (Clay pigeons) I love to challenge myself to learn new things!
